I nice example of gear. As someone who has been using patrol boxes while camping for almost 30 years now, I would make a few minor changes. In most cases, you won’t need so many knives (especially since most people on your outings should have a knife with them). You can also get by with only one set of kitchen utensils–of course, that’s easier if you choose not to use non-stick cookware. Teflon will come off your pots and pans if the temp gets over 450F–something very easy if you do any cooking over a wood fire or a hot bed of coals. I still prefer cast iron. It may be heavy, but it is just as non-stick as any modern pan if you learn how to care for it correctly. ;-)

Personally, I’ve never been a fan of lanterns. I like to use candle-style or clip lamps, especially since the advent of long-burning (and battery sipping) LED lights. Also, instead of traditional hot pads, I like using a heavy leather glove. With a pair, I can wear one and use the other as a hot pad.

I don’t see any larger cook pots or a coffee pot. Even if you don’t drink coffee, a coffee pot is a great way to heat water for cocoa or cleanup. Some other handy items would be a set of measuring spoons, a medium sized mixing bowl (think mixing pancake batter), and a scrub brush or scouring pad. I’m assuming you have two wash tubs nested in your photo, though I can’t tell for sure.

    Enjoy the wilds!
